The Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux hosted its annual tasting in London on Tuesday 13 October and Wednesday 14 October at Church House showing wines from the 2018 vintage.
This was a seated tasting served by sommeliers following new Government guidelines. Members of the UGC did not attend.

“It was touch and go as to whether Sue Glasgow of Spear Communications, consummate organiser of tastings for the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux (UGC), would be able to pull off the usual annual tasting of wines in bottle this year. It involved a last-minute change of venue to have enough rooms to keep tasters far enough apart, and no doubt an unimaginable amount of scurrying and stress. Hats off to Sue and to logistics company Sensible Wine Services. We ended up in the ecclesiastical hush of Church House, a stone’s throw from Westminster Abbey (seen above from Church House), rather than in the usual high-ceilinged but rather airless Horticultural Halls in Victoria.”

“Firstly I must echo Julia’s sentiments on Sue’s brilliant organisation of this tasting in tricky circumstances – the settings felt like a blueprint for wine-tasting in the current climate.”
